This painting began with an intention of wanting more softness and space. 
It began, like a lot of my paintings very quickly but as that need for space became clear - it DEMANDED I slow down. I had to keep reworking the brush strokes to create the perfect balance of movement and stillness. 

The little surprises that came out during the stillness was the intricate gold line work in the bottom right hand side - it is an echo of the intricate drawings I do with ink on paper. You need to see the flecks of gold paint in person!

Plus those dark branch like lines? I thought they were going to be tree like branches reaching out for one another. 
But as I observe it from the outside, they also have a scar like quality in their depth. 

Like when you sometimes find you have to wait and rest after a big event that leaves it's mark on your mind and soul.
