Colours of Joy series - Pink I

Colours of Joy series - Pink I
I love my watercolour spirals but I struggle with using paper because it ends up being very costly & delicate to frame and arrange shipping for my collectors.
So I investigated & researched into other ways I could create with my watercolour Soulful Spirals style with a substrate that didn't require framing behind glass to maintain archival quality & protection.
I found a new clay substrate called Aquabord. It's a clay coated panel & it mimics similar qualities to paper for water-soluable paint.
It isn't the same as paper, so I found myself learning YET ANOTHER new language as I found my way around the Aquabord.
It required me to slow even further down. It required me to use all the patience & planning I learnt with the paper Soulful Spirals.
It challenged me to find new marks & ways to hold my brush, lay down colour & dance with the whole process.
It was a balance of finding a new way to say what I want to say with brush & paint while allowing it to flow and move and showcase in its own unique style.
So far, I am LOVING what I can create in this series.
The name 'COLOURS OF JOY' just came to me out of the blue & I don't know how I know, but I just knew that was the name of the series. (don't you love that?!)
